I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to share a heartfelt request from someone very dear to our local community—our business neighbor, Chris Holloway, co‑owner of Cork & Candles in Ardmore (right down the block in the Cricket Flats building).

Chris is facing a serious health challenge. In 2016, he received a life‑saving kidney transplant after being diagnosed with FSGS, a rare kidney disease. That transplant served him well for nearly a decade—until May 2024, when he learned the kidney was failing. Earlier this year, he began undergoing dialysis—12 hours per day—while desperately seeking a second kidney transplant.

Chris is now appealing to our community: if you’re generally healthy and willing to be tested as a living donor, you could help save his life. Even if you’re not a direct match, sharing his story increases the chances that someone who is a match will hear about him and take action.

How you can help:

Why this matters so deeply:

Chris’s renewed kidney in 2016 truly was a gift of life. Now, with dialysis in full swing, his family’s hope rests on finding a matching donor. As he shared:

“Really it’s just wait. Just be compliant about the instructions you get from your doctor. And you wait. And it’s a tough wait. I can’t be a hypocrite pushing everyone else to fight when I’m not going to fight. So it’s in me to just hang on.”— Chris Holloway

“Just if there is anybody out there that is just willing to give a second chance, please… because his life not only depends on it but our lives depend on it.” — Tia Holloway, Chris’ wife

Living donors play a powerful role—offering someone another chance at a full, healthy life while still alive.

We’re reaching out to you not with any ask beyond kindness—but if you’re able to help in any way, it would mean the world. Please let us know if you’d like more information or assistance with the registration process.

Thank you for taking a moment to consider this. Whether through screening or simply spreading the word, your support could make a pivotal difference in someone’s life.

Warm regards,
